Keith Williams, aka Kchisos, was born and raised in southeast Louisiana.
He took his first photograph at the age of 13 using a Polaroid Swinger
camera handed down to him by an older sibling. His fascination with photography
as a teenager soon led to the purchase of a 35mm camera, the format he
would use for the next 30 years.
Throughout the years, Williams continued to hone his photography skills.
With the rapid advances in digital technology in the 21st century, Williams
has virtually retired his traditional camera and now works entirely with
digital photography. Williams' specialty is using the digital darkroom
to bring out unusual features in his photographs.
"I was an amateur photographer for many years while I worked in Houston
and Dallas," states Williams. "Then I realized that I wanted to take my
work to a professional level. I decided a move to West Texas would
be more conducive to my creative growth because of my love for the desert
Southwest. In fact, the name Kchisos comes from joining the initial
of my first name with the majestic Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National
Park. While I love taking natural photographs, I enjoy even more using
the digital darkroom to bring out different dimensions in my work."
Williams currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is the owner of
Kchisos Gallery.
