Paula Davis has always loved making things: weaving, macramé, clay
and paper collage. While working on her BFA at Stephen F. Austin University,
she took a jewelry class and was hooked . It appealed to her practical
side – jewelry is useful and beautiful. After college she worked
for several custom jewelers in Ft. Worth and Dallas, Texas, and learned
the real art and craft of fine jewelry.
In 1985 she moved to Lubbock, Texas, with her husband and young son and
began freelance work for local jewelers and developed a following of personal
clients. A passion for colored stones and diamonds motivated her to become
a Graduate Gemologist.
Paula currently has her own custom jewelry design business, Paula Davis
Designs. She has added jewelry appraisal to her professional skills and
belongs to the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers.
She is proud to be included in “Texas Originals”, a group of only 30 Texas
artists selected by the Texas Commission for the Arts. She participates
in local art shows as time permits. She has won awards for her jewelry
in Texas and in Colorado, and her work is in private collections around
the country.
Her jewelry designs are inspired by unusual gemstones, rock carvings, ethnic
and geometric designs, along with antique and ancient jewelry. Her designs
reflect her many interests. Paula truly enjoys working personally
with her diverse clientele.
When she is not working you will find her in Santa Fe, NM hiking, skiing
or “hanging out” in the galleries.

are some samples of Paula's hand-made jewelry.
